precarious
This 2023 installation for RSPB Geltsdale by Carolyn Marr and Frances Marr explores the idea of precariousness.
Is a pot placed dangerously near the edge of its plinth a metaphor for the precarious state of the planet? Can it capture the fragility of our ageing bodies, the deeply uncertain futures for coming generations?
Or is it simply a precarious object sitting on the edge?
Precarious is the second series of artworks exhibited at the RSPB Geltsdale Gallery by sister artists Frances and Carolyn Marr, following Linescapes in 2017.
For Precarious the sisters again benefited from Jeremy Howden’s much appreciated wood-working skills.
