White clay with coloured clay slips including an Egremont Red pigment slip
This series is inspired by the hollow spaces and curved shapes found at the mine and incorporate colour, texture and material found at the mine site.
The work was then smoke fired - surrounded by sawdust and combustable materials - to explore how the different elements react.
Trapped materials inside some of the hollows move within and create sounds, often reminiscent of those found on the mine site or perhaps the nearby coast.
